The 50th All-Japan meeting was a lot of fun this year! It was interesting to see each dojo’s interpretation of the techniques we all practice. The smaller demonstrations given by high-ranking Senseis and Shihans gave me a lot of motivation to work towards a high level of Aikido. There was a heavy focus on fundamentals and kihon-waza but it never seemed repetitive – perhaps because at the highest level Aikido remains dynamic in spite of it’s apparent simplicity. I felt a lot more relaxed during my own demonstrations this year, and enjoyed the chance to show what I have learned to our community. Looking forward to next year!
